Chapter 20: The Test of
Unity
The
doubles attacked, their movements swift and relentless. The trio fought back,
using their shards to fend off the shadowy figures. But for every strike they
landed, the doubles seemed to grow stronger, feeding off their frustration and
fear.
“This
isn’t working!” Kiran yelled, narrowly dodging a blow from his double.
“They’re
feeding on us,” Mira realized, her voice steady despite the chaos. “On our
doubt.”
Rhea
paused, her shard glowing brightly in her hand. “Then we stop doubting. We
trust each other. We trust ourselves.”
She
reached out her free hand toward Mira and Kiran. “We have to do this together.”
Mira
hesitated for only a moment before grasping Rhea’s hand. Kiran followed suit, and
their shards flared in unison, flooding the chamber with light.
The
doubles screamed, their forms dissolving into wisps of smoke. The whispers in
the chamber faded, replaced by a deep, resonant hum.
