they could celebrate further, the Heartstone emitted a low hum, its glow flickering.
Selan’s expression darkened, the radiant light of its eyes dimming.
“What’s
happening?” Mira asked, alarmed.
“The
restoration of the Heartstone has stabilized the Luminal Realm,” Selan said,
“but its balance remains fragile. The fractures were caused by a force beyond
our understanding—a darkness that lingers still.”
“Darkness?”
Rhea echoed.
Selan
nodded. “Long ago, another group of surface dwellers stumbled upon this realm.
They sought to harness the power of the stones for themselves, disrupting the
delicate balance. Though they were stopped, their actions left scars on the
realm—and awakened something… ancient.”
Kiran
frowned. “So, what? We stopped one disaster, but another is waiting to happen?”
Selan
gestured toward the Heartstone, its glow steadying. “Your work here has
prepared you. But the shards you carry come with a responsibility. The darkness
that threatens the Luminal Realm is not confined to this place—it is spreading
to your surface world.”
Mira’s
eyes widened. “You mean… we’re taking this fight home with us?”
“Indeed,”
Selan said solemnly. “You are the stewards of balance now. The shards will
guide you to the places where the darkness seeps through. Together, you must
ensure that neither realm falls to its influence.”
