Chapter 26: A Brief Respite
With the
second fragment in their possession, the trio ascended back to the surface,
their spirits heavy but determined. The connection to the Luminal Realm felt
stronger than ever, but so did the weight of the Abyss’s growing power.
“We’re
making progress,” Rhea said as they sat by the campfire that evening. “Two
fragments down. How many more to go?”
Mira
looked at the shards, their glow steady and warm. “If the seal has five points
like the symbol in the archive, then we have three more to find.”
Kiran
stared into the fire, his jaw clenched. “Each one is going to be harder than
the last.”
“We’ll
handle it,” Rhea said firmly. She looked at her friends, her gaze steady.
“We’ve made it this far because we trust each other. The Abyss feeds on fear
and doubt, but we’re stronger than that.”
Mira
smiled faintly. “Let’s hope the next challenge agrees with you.”
Kiran
chuckled. “If it doesn’t, we’ll make it agree.”
The
shards pulsed faintly in unison, a reminder that their journey was far from
over.
